The signing of several MoUs and agreements between Lankan universities and international universities or agencies was approved by the Cabinet to foster higher education collaboration.

An MoU to promote the launch of multidisciplinary research on integrated resource management and to address catastrophe resilience will be signed by the Universities of Salford, United Kingdom, and Sabaragamuwa University of
Sri Lanka.

A tripartite MoU will be signed by Singapore Health Services (Pvt), the National University of Singapore, and the University of Jaffna to establish a regional partnership centre focused on global health initiatives.

Under the Marie Project on the Mental Health Impact of Menopause on Women Globally, the University of Ruhuna and the Southern Health NHS Trust of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland will enter into a MoU.

The Open University of Sri Lanka and Tomorrow Technology Education Service Centre of China signed an MoU designating and empowering Tomorrow Technology Education Service Centre as the official body tasked with endorsing and promoting the academic offerings of the Open University of Sri Lanka to Chinese students.

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Tomas Bata University of the Czech Republic will endorse an MoU to enhance cooperation.

The University of Rajarata and the University of Naples Federico II of Italy will sign an agreement for the development of capacity, joint research, innovation, and the use of aquaculture biosystems technology.

Education Minister Dr Susil Premajayantha said that representatives from the University of British Columbia (UoBC) in Vancouver, Canada, are in talks with local counterparts on staff training in Sri Lanka’s education sector.

Discussions centered on the potential for training educators, lecturers, principals, and educational administrators of the nation’s 19 National Colleges of Education (NCEs), as well as faculty members and educational administrators of the ‘Sri Lanka University of Education,’ which will eventually be formed by combining all of the NCEs.
