Nalanda rout Trinity by 7 wickets
Nalanda College routed Trinity College by 7 wickets to clinch their annual Mahela-Sanga Challenge Trophy encounter ended at Campbell Place yesterday.
Nalanda dominated the second day proceedings as they did on day one in the two-day annual fixture. They bundled out the Trinitians for a mere 109 runs in the second innings. Trinitians managed only 72 runs in the first innings in reply to Nalanda’s first innings total of 172 runs.
It was left-arm spinner Sajitha Vithanage who ended up with a match bag of seven wickets, as he along with Minod Caldera and Thisara Dewdunu led the Nalanda to a comfortable victory. This left Nalanda a target of just 10 runs to lay their hands on the Mahela-Sanga Challenge Trophy after a lapse of three years.
