The 50th anniversary celebrations of the first pirivena institute in Uva Wellassa was marked at the Veliyaya Siri Piyarathana Pirivena in Monaragala.
The Anunayaka thera of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven Niyangoda Vijitha thera, Lekadhikari Medagama Dhammananda thera, Uva–Wellassa Sanganayaka Weliyaya Siri Piyarathana thera were among those present.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha also took part.
