View(s):

Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa visited the Vijitha Yapa Bookshop at Flower Road (Pittala Handiya), during her recent tour of
Sri Lanka.

Vijitha Yapa Bookshop is a publisher of books promoting the Japanese language. The Foreign Minister and the Japanese Ambassador (seen in the picture) were particularly interested in books on Sri Lanka and the books for children.

The Foreign Minister was given a gift of the book ‘The Complete Illustrated History of Sri Lanka’ by Sri Lankan-born author Dr .Anton Sebastian, and she was interested to hear that though he retired as a medical practitioner in London, Dr. Sebastian returned to the hospital he had been serving to help deal with the COVID-19 pandemic but unfortunately became a victim of the disease.
