The Cabinet has accepted Education Minister Susil Premajayantha’s proposal to digitalise general education with the backing of China, the Government Information Department said.

After conducting a feasibility analysis, the Chinese government decided to fund the project, which is anticipated to address a number of existing issues such as the lack of resources and teachers.

China will contribute to the project by assisting to provide smart boards, conference rooms, studios, classrooms, and data centres.

This will facilitate resource sharing and the transfer of teachers’ specialised expertise to students, supporting the blended learning approach and the education reforms. -NA
