Await a transcendent experience of sound and spirit as the Muslim Choral Ensemble of Sri Lanka presents “An’Nur” at the Lionel Wendt Theatre on Sunday, June 2 at 7 p.m. This evening celebrates the rich heritage, devotion, and transformative essence of Islamic spiritual tradition.
From the ancient roots of Arab traders in the 7th century to the dynamic mosaic of modern society, the Muslims of Sri Lanka have long been stewards of a vibrant cultural legacy. “An’Nur” will weave together meticulously curated Islamic pieces, qasida, zikr recitations, and Sufi styles.
Founded in 2017 by Haadia Galely, in collaboration with Artistic Director André de Quadros co-founder and Associate Artistic Director Manoj Sanjeewa, the ensemble’s unwavering dedication to their mission has seen them grow from strength to strength.
