Dinara bags ITF Junior Circuit Singles title
Sri Lanka’s Dinara de Silva bagged the Girl’s Singles title of the ITF Junior Circuit Week 1 Tennis Tournament with a comfortable 2-0 win over Yu-Ching Hsieh of Chinese Taipei in the final played at the SSC Tennis Courts in Colombo yesterday.
Dinara won a Junior ITF Singles title for Sri Lanka after a lapse of four years with the last being Anjalika Kurera, who won two titles in the 2019 tournament, also played in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile in the boy’s category, which was a battle between two players from Chinese Taipei saw Yen-Chun Wang overcome Hung Yu Chen by 2-0. Dinara was unfortunate to miss out a double crown after she partnered with Savitha Bhuvaneswaran of India, only to be beaten by the pair of Abigail Elham of India and Yu-Ching Hsieh of Chinese Taipei in the Girls Doubles final by 2-1.
In the Boy’s Doubles Yen-Chun Wang of Taipei won a double crown, following his Singles win. He paired up with his Singles victim Hung Yu Chen to record an easy 2-0 win over the Indian pair Ranvir Singh and Shaurya Swarup to emerge champions.
The ITF Junior Circuit Week 2 is scheduled to get underway this week at the same venue.
