Turn on the Vesak lights!
View(s):With Vesak celebrations due to take place this week, business establishments, hotels and government buildings and residences have commenced to put up their decorations.
Among these was the launch of the Vesak celebration of The Hilton hotel, “Vesak on the lawn” which took place on Friday at 7 pm.
The hotel was colourfully decorated with lanterns and lights and gave a serene vibe, with a guitar playing and drum beats mixed with the singing of Bakthi gee.
The event launch was marked by switching on the lights of the lanterns which illuminated the area. Along with a group of small children attired in sarongs and lama-saree the General Manager of The Hilton Colombo and Area General Manager of Hilton Sri Lanka Manesh Fernando switched on the lights illuminating the hotel.
The event featured vegetarian set menus featuring vibrant salads, soups, main dishes and desserts. The hotel also offered special beverages featuring juices from around the island.
There were special activities such as lighting lanterns,
fundraising for charity, singing of Bakthi gee, lantern making and decorating.
