The Old Boys Athletic Wing of St. Anthony’s College, Wattala, established two months ago, with the vision to uplift the standard and achieve leading status, plans to establish an athletic fund to support the cause. Under the leadership of Joseph Joachim, a former public school and national athletic champion, the Athletic Wing has taken several positive steps to uplift the status of college athletics within the short period. The Wing members have planned to dedicate the athletic fund in honour of R.F. Abraham with the blessings of the college Principal, Sarojini Wijesinghe.

The fund launch will be held on June 1 at the college auditorium. The team behind the launch involves renowned media personality Priyantha Wijesinghe, Joseph Joachim, Ranjith Boteju, Bernard Liyanage, Sukumal Fernando, Desmond Koelmeyer, Anuhas Mahawalage, Gazzali Zain, Suresh Thiyagarajah, Luckshman  Karavitage and Emil Diaz.

R.F. Abraham was a product of St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna and was prefect of games and athletic coach of St. Anthony’s, Wattala for a period of over 30 years. During this period, his athletes won almost all the Sri Lankan Schools awards, with several of them establishing national records, awards and national championships.
