Yorkshire has added Sri Lanka Test fast bowler Vishwa Fernando for their upcoming three County Championship matches as a second overseas player next to skipper Shan Masood, who has been their standalone overseas during the opening six rounds of the ongoing season.

Fernando’s arrival will expect to bolster Yorkshire’s injury hit bowling attack for the next three Division II matches against Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire and Derbyshire. The 32-year-old, with 299 first-class wickets, is likely to make his debut during next week’s game against Northamptonshire starting on May 24. After a break for the T20 Blast, Fernando will be available for the games against Gloucestershire and Derbyshire. Fernando has 64 wickets in 23 Tests, played twice on loan at Durham last September and took seven wickets. In March, he bowled Sri Lanka to a 2-0 Test series victory over Bangladesh, taking 10 wickets.
