Excise official, banker caught dealing drugs
An Excise official and an assistant manager of a private bank were among five persons arrested by the Alawathugoda Police for selling Heroin.
The Police said that the information regarding the man who provided the drugs were revealed after Police arrested a drug seller who divulged details on receiving the drugs.
The Police used a decoy officer and contacted the person who provided drugs to the seller, and made the arrest while the drug provider was trying to sell him drugs.
After querying the drug provider it was revealed that he was an official at the main office of the Excise Department.
The Excise officer possessed heroin, ice, cannabis, a digital scale and Rs10,000 in cash.
He revealed an assistant manager of a leading private bank in Colombo who is also involved in the racket, who was also arrested. Both the arrested suspects revealed five more suspects from Katugastota, Alawatugoda and Colombo involved with them. The five other suspects too were arrested.
The Excise officer and the assistant bank manager are to be held for three days and questioned under stay order.
