Rotaract Club of SLIIT Rebuilds Doranegama Maha Vidyalaya in Kandy
View(s):In a commendable act of philanthropy, the Rotaract Club of SLIIT has significantly contributed to the development of Doranegama Maha Vidyalaya in Kandy. Demonstrating their commitment to education and community service, the club undertook a comprehensive project to rebuild and refurbish key facilities at the school.
The Rotaract Club of SLIIT focused on several critical areas in their initiative. They rebuilt the computer lab, equipping it with new computers and a printer, thus providing the students with essential tools for modern education. Recognising the importance of a conducive learning environment, they also refurbished the school library with story and educational books and provided cupboards, offering a fresh, welcoming space for students to enhance their knowledge.

Additionally, the project extended to improving the school’s basic amenities. The club rebuilt and upgraded the washrooms, ensuring that the students have access to clean and hygienic facilities. To enhance the overall aesthetic and environment of the school, the team also took on the task of painting the entire school, giving it a vibrant and fresh new look. Moreover, the Rotaract Club of SLIIT provided a generous supply of stationery items, further supporting the students’ educational needs.
The funds for this project were raised through the Dhaaraa musical show, organised by the Rotaract Club of SLIIT on April 7th, 2024, at the Museaus College auditorium. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the show and supported it, as well as to all those who donated to this Yuthukama initiative. Special thanks go to all the club members for their tireless efforts in making this initiative possible.
This initiative by the Rotaract Club of SLIIT not only improved the physical infrastructure of Doranegama Maha Vidyalaya but also significantly boosted the morale of both students and staff, embodying the true spirit of community service and educational support.
