In an awe-inspiring display of talent and determination, 15-year-old A.I.M. Haathim from St. Peter’s College has emerged as a formidable force in the realm of competitive swimming, clinching top honours at both the 48th National Age Group Swimming Championships and the Pentathlon Swimming Championships.

At the 48th National Age Group Swimming Championships held on April 24, Haathim left spectators spellbound with his remarkable performance across multiple events. In the 100m Breaststroke event, he showcased his speed and precision, clocking an impressive time of 1 minute and 12.78 seconds. His agility and endurance were further highlighted in the 100m Freestyle event, where he blazed through the water in just 57.87 seconds, securing yet another commendable victory.

However, it was in the Individual Medley (IM) events where Haathim truly demonstrated his versatility and mastery of the sport. In the 200m IM, he displayed remarkable skill and technique, finishing with a time of 2 minutes and 24.90 seconds. Similarly, in the 100m Butterfly event, Haathim’s finesse and determination propelled him to success, as he clocked an impressive time of 1 minute and 2.34 seconds.

Yet, the crowning achievement of the championships came in the form of the 400m IM, where Haathim not only secured victory but also etched his name in the record books. With a jaw-dropping time of 5 minutes and 15 seconds, he shattered previous records, leaving no doubt about his status as a rising star in the world of swimming.

Haathim’s triumphs, however, were not confined to the National Age Group Swimming Championships alone. Just weeks later, at the Pentathlon Swimming Championships held on June 7, he continued his winning streak, clinching the coveted title of overall first place with a total time of 6 hours, 45 minutes, and 34 seconds. His dominance across multiple disciplines further solidified his reputation as a swimming prodigy.
