ACCA Sri Lanka Honours Tutors and Lecturers instrumental in Uplifting Accounting Talent in the Country
View(s):The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) recently held a distinguished Tutor Recognition Ceremony to appreciate and felicitate its dedicated tuition providers and its key lecturers. The event celebrated the exceptional contributions of six learning partners in Sri Lanka and Maldives and honoured over 35 exemplary lecturers who were felicitated for their exceptional teaching practices and for the contribution to the overall success of ACCA programmes, which in turn have played a pivotal role in the professional development of ACCA future members in Sri Lanka and Maldives.
The ceremony, attended by ACCA advocate and members, partners, and industry leaders, showcased ACCA’s commitment to maintaining high standards in accountancy education and fostering a community of excellence among its tuition providers and lecturers.
A special recognition was given to Mr. TPL Raj, a distinguished individual who has been instrumental in developing ACCA in Sri Lanka. Mr. Raj, who holds the highest level of respect in the industry, was inspirational in introducing and promoting the ACCA qualification during the 1980s and 1990s. His visionary leadership and relentless efforts were crucial in laying the foundation for Approved Learning provider’s presence in Sri Lanka. Mr. Raj’s remarkable contributions include serving as the president of the ACCA Member Network Panel (MNP). Under his guidance, ACCA Sri Lanka saw significant growth and development, providing aspiring accountants with access to globally recognised qualifications and opportunities. His legacy continues to inspire both current and future generations of accountancy professionals.
The ceremony also featured inspiring speeches from industry leaders and educational experts, highlighting the critical role of quality education in building a sustainable and resilient accountancy profession. The keynote speaker, Mr.Dilshan Rodrigo, Deputy CEO of Union Bank Sri Lanka, presented ACCA’s forward-thinking vision outlined in “Accounting for a Changed World, “ that focused on four key areas of Redefining the Role of the Accountant, Driving Career Success, Strengthening Impact and in Building Sustainable Value.
Tanya Worsley, Head of International Markets at Kaplan Financial (UK), delivered an insightful address on how best to engage Generation Z and highlighted the importance of integrating digital tools and interactive content into the curriculum to make learning more engaging and relevant. She stressed on the value of fostering a collaborative learning environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills, essential traits for future accountants.
