Social media safety and cyber security awareness programme for schools

View(s):

A comprehensive initiative to educate teachers and students about social media safety and cyber security is being launched by the Education Ministry in partnership with Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT).

An awareness programme was recently held at the Ministry Auditorium.

These programmes seek to solve the growing cyber security problems that teachers and kids encounter, especially regarding social media.

A lack of knowledge and negligence regarding the safe use of social media and the internet exposes them to cyber threats and crimes.

As part of this initiative, at the regional and provincial levels, a cadre of senior students and school technology teachers has been trained to educate and provide necessary support to those in need.

The MoE’s provincial and regional information and communication technology (ICT) officers had been greatly impacted.
