2000 kilos of drugs destroyed by incinerator at Wanathawilluwa

Nearly 2000 kilos of drugs, held as court evidence, were destroyed yesterday by using a high powered incinerator at Wanathawilluwa.
The haul of drugs included 614 kg of ice (methamphetamine), 581 kg of ketamine (a dissociative anaesthetic drug), and 13. 681 kgof heroin.
The incinerator belongs to the Police Department, and the drugs were destroyed in the presence of Puttalam Magistrate Ayoma Wimalaratne.
The haul of drugs, seized during operations on land and sea with a street value of Rs 200 million, was transported from the Colombo High Courts to Wanatwilluwa, Puttalam, under tight security. Officials from the Dangerous Drug Control Board, the Government Analyst Department, and narcotic control unit officers and police personnel were present. Public security minister, Tiran Alles and the Inspector General of Police were also present.
The first time the incinerator was used was to destroy 400 kilos of heroin recently.
