Dayasiri vows to take Siripala group to court over Friday’s incident at Darley Road
View(s):Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara has decided to seek the court’s intervention to enable him to assume duties at the party headquarters at Darley Road in Colombo.
Mr. Jayasekara told the Sunday Times that he would also be filing contempt of court cases against all who obstructed him from entering the party headquarters on Friday to assume duties.
He also lodged a complaint at the Maradana police yesterday over the incident.
He said the Police had wanted him to obtain permission from Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva to assume duties, but he believed he was not required to do so as the court had accepted him as the General Secretary of the party.
Mr. Jayasekara said he would engage freely in SLFP activities after obtaining a ruling from courts.
He added that he would seek a court order to remove from the SLFP the group supporting Nimal Siripala and his followers who obstructed him.
Mr. Jayasekara said he would also file a human rights case at the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission.
