Akesha Silva and Nevan Kannangara emerged singles champions in the Under-14 age category of the 109th Colombo Tennis Championship when they came out on top in the finals played at the SLTA courts in Greenpath, Colombo.
Akesha coasted to a comfortable 2-0 win against Annaya Norbet while Nevan underwent some anxious moments before pulling a hard fought 2-1 win over Damsath Peiris. Akesha won both sets easily 6-2, 6-2 against Annaya. Nevan conceded the first set to Damsath 4-6, but bounced back to claim the two following sets 6-2 and 6-4 to change the fortune of the game towards his favour.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Akesha defeated Layala Knese while Nevan overcame Yudeeraya Athapaththu by the identical margins 2-0.
