Diwerse pop-up market of local handicrafts
View(s):Diwerse, Sri Lanka’s innovative online marketplace for handmade goods, is holding its first pop-up market this weekend. The pop-up market is on today – Sunday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the English Cake Company, at No.18 Chitra Lane, Colombo 5.
Presenting a collection of handcrafted products from talented artisans across Sri Lanka, this is an opportunity to pick from a wide range, including macramé home décor, handcrafted Sri Lankan souvenirs, artisanal candles and soaps, children’s toys and play mats, embroidered goods and upcycled wooden products.
Customers can also place their orders for custom-made products.
“We’re thrilled to bring Diwerse’s virtual marketplace into the physical world with this pop-up event,” says Natashya, founder of Diwerse. “This is a unique chance for the public to experience the quality and craftsmanship of our products firsthand, and to support local artisans from all over
Sri Lanka in one convenient location. We aim to provide both online and offline exposure for local craftsmen across the island, fostering a community where vendors can support each other and thrive together.”
While the artisans themselves will not be present at the sale, Diwerse staff will be on hand to share the stories behind the products and answer any questions about the crafting processes and the talented individuals behind each piece.
Each product purchased not only supports another person’s livelihood but also contributes directly to the Sri Lankan economy. By choosing handmade, you’re making a positive impact on our local communities and helping to preserve traditional craftsmanship, the organisers say.
