Thomians triumph at All-Island Archery Championship

In a thrilling display of skill, three students from S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia emerged victorious in their respective age groups, at the 7th All Island Archery Championship Wayamba, which was held in Kurunegala. The event was held on June 22 and 23.

The Championship witnessed exceptional talent from several schools and clubs across the country, including Royal, Ananda, Nalanda, Gateway, Maliyadeva, Asian Int. School and Wayamba Archery, Racecourse Archery and Uva Archery clubs.

The Thomian archers were able to secure medals in their respective age categories. The Thomian team captain, R.L.B. Kiridena won the gold medal in the Under-21 age category while in the Under-17 age category, team secretary, D.M.R. Gunawardena and M.S.M. de Silva won the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The team was coached by veteran archer and professional trainer,
Jagath Weeratunga.
