Reforms underway to advance education system
View(s):With a specific focus on job prospects, more than 500 language teachers proficient in Hindi, Chinese, Korean, German, French, and Japanese have been hired and assigned to classrooms, State Minister of Education Arvind Kumar said.
Plans are in place to transform 19 National Colleges of Education around the nation into universities in an effort to generate teachers who will graduate from these institutions in four years, Minister Kumar added.
This expansion will raise college enrollment from 5,000 to 7,500 students, which will produce 7,500 certified teachers annually, the minister said at the “Collective Path to Stable Country” press briefing held at the Presidential Media Centre.
In addition, initiatives are being made to improve the educational environment for kids with special needs, such as hiring qualified educators who will focus on their assistance.
Plans are also underway to increase the Zonal Education Office count to 120.
Minister Kumar said appointments for education administrative service officers and principals, together with pending teacher appointments, are underway.
The ongoing changes could significantly advance the education system, the minister said, adding that the President had provided the MoE with the required budgetary resources for these reforms in the education sector.
He called on educators to recognise the significance of their work and conduct themselves with integrity, and pointed out that their role was vital in forming the nation’s next generation. -NA
