Despite putting up an overall sloppy performance Thailand managed to maintain their record against Malaysia, recording a 22-run win in their opening match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup in Dambulla yesterday. Electing to bat, Thailand were offhand, losing wickets at regular intervals, but a brilliant knock 35-ball 40 by wicketkeeper Nannapat Koncharoenkai paved the way to post 133 for the loss of 6 wickets. Chasing a modest target, Malaysia were bolstered by a dominant opening stand of 68 runs between Wan Julia and Winifred Duraisingam, Thailand contained them to 111 for the loss of 8 wickets, keeping their victory record intact.
