Trinity level series vs STC; win Lakshman Kadirgamar Trophy
Trinity College, led by Suren Vaas, defeated the Christopher Dias-led S. Thomas’ College by a margin of 3.5 to 5.5, to claim the Lakshman Kadirgamar Trophy in their third annual golf encounter played at the Royal Colombo Golf Club on Friday. Trinity’s win was spearheaded by Surain Prematilake and Sajeewa Sumathiratne, as their contributions topped towards the side’s win.
The win meant that Trinity golfers managed to level the series with a win each as the Thomians, who won the inaugural encounter in 2022. Trinity’s win on Friday comes as the largest victory margin recorded so far.

Led by Suren Vass, the Trinity College side included Tharanga Gunasekera, Sajeewa Sumathiratne, Hemanga Karunasena, Ashan Welegedera, Surain Prematilake, Lalith Wickramanayake, Chandima de Singhe, Clifford Fernando, Gihan Punchihewa, James Eliathamby, Ranjit Weerasinghe, Rathven de Livera, Nisal Hettiarachchi,
Anil de Silva, Ajith Dissanayake, Nihal Wadugodapitiya and Mario de Silva.
S. Thomas’ College was led by Christopher Dias, who had Kumar Boralessa, Shiran de Soysa, Yanilka de Silva, Prashan Peiris, Ranil Pieris, Charya de Saram, Upul de Silva, Gamini Kannangara, Anura Gunesekera, Nalin Jayasuriya, Sriantha Rajapakse, Ken de Alwis, Arjun Gooneratne, Nishan Navaratna, Ram Raj, Mohan Wickremanayake and Indrajith Fernando in his side.
