All text books required for 2025 to be issued free of charge for schoolchildren have already been printed, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He said they are in the process of transferring the books to the divisional stores to ensure that the books can be distributed before the December vacation.

The first term of the next year is due to commence in the second week of January and the books will be available to students in all schools across the country.

Rs 12 billion has been spent on the printing of books, he said.

The state Printing Corporation had printed 40 per cent of the books, while the rest has been printed by the private sector.

The SPC is now in the process of printing exercise books required for the students.

The Ministry has also called for tenders to print module and activity books required for next year for students. -DWI
