St. Joseph’s swimmers defend title; Ladies dominate girls segment
Sponsored by Nestles’ Milo, the competition saw St. Joseph’s swimmers defend their title, with a strong tally of 449 points to emerge Overall Boys Team Swimming champions, outsmarting Ananda College, who ended up at second with 334 points and traditional rivals St. Peter’s College, who finished at overall third with 313 points.
Ladies College claimed the Overall Girls Team Swimming Championship with a tally of 397 points, sitting pretty ahead of Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy, who finished second with 333 points and Lyceum International School, Wattala, who finished at third with 299 points.
The Overall Mixed Team Swimming Championship was claimed by Lyceum International School, Wattala, who dominated the segment with 518 points, completely overpowering fellow Lyceum schools. Lyceum Gampaha finished at second with 309 points, while Lyceum Nugegoda claimed 225 points to finish at third.
Royal College dominated with a staggering 191 points to claim the Boys Team Diving Championship, sitting way ahead of second placed S. Thomas’ College, who claimed the spot with 34 points. With 27 points each Colombo International School and St. Joseph’s College shared the third position.
Bishops’ College ruled the Girls Team Diving Championship, claiming the crown with a commanding 131 points, to dominate over rivals St. Bridget’s Convent (83) and Visakha Vidyalaya (51) who claimed the second and third positions.
The Senior Boys Team Swimming Championship was claimed by Ananda College, who overcame 254 points to win the top spot. St. Joseph’s College finished at second close behind with 237 points, while Trinity College, with 203 points, was placed third.
Ladies College, with a commanding display, claimed the Senior Girls Team Swimming Championship, as they claimed the top spot with 287 points. Finishing at second were Visakha Vidyalaya, with 195 points, followed by Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy, at third position with 188 points.
St. Joseph’s College continued their dominance with their youngsters claiming the Junior Boys Team Swimming Championship with a tally of 212 points. Traditional rivals St. Peter’s College, with 116 points, finished at second followed by Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, who were placed third with 106 points.
Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy prevailed to claim the Junior Girls Team Swimming Championship after coming on top with 145 points. Lyceum International School, Wattala, had to be contended with the second position after claiming 141.5 points, while Ladies College, with 110 points, finished at third position.
