S. Thomas’ College delivered a commanding performance at Havelock Park yesterday, securing a bonus point victory over Dharmaraja College with a 46-12 win in their Dialog Schools Rugby League match. Leading 36-5 at halftime, the Thomians displayed their authority with a well-rounded display of attacking rugby.

In their impressive 46-12 victory, the Thomians displayed their attacking skill with seven tries, four conversions and one penalty. Their scoring was well-rounded, with tries providing consistent points, showing their ability to break through the opposition. Dharmaraja, on the other hand, managed only one two tries and a conversion, highlighting the significant gap in performance. The Thomians’ ability to convert opportunities into points was a key factor in their dominant win.

From the start, the Thomians established their dominance. Winger Seneshka Liyanagunawardena, who has been in impressive form this season, opened the scoring with a try off a maul. Captain and flyhalf Yehan Bulathsinhalage added the conversion, putting S. Thomas’ ahead 7-0 in the 12th minute.

Dharmaraja responded shortly after, with lock Prabuddhika Madushana scoring an unconverted try following a sloppy offload from the Thomian scrumhalf Venuka Wickramasuriya, narrowing the gap to 7-5. However, the Thomians quickly restored their lead. Liyanagunawardena crossed the line again in the 19th minute, and Bulathsinhalage converted to make it 14-5.

The home team continued to dominate and in the 27th minute, Bulathsinhalage scored in the left corner, and his own conversion extended the lead to 19-5. Thomian prop Eyan Pereira added another try in the 33rd minute, making it 24-5. Just before halftime, fullback Avishka Perera scored, though it went unconverted, leaving the score at 36-5 at the break. The Thomians didn’t ease up even after halftime. Bulathsinhalage added a penalty in the 41st minute to increase the lead to 39-5. Dharmaraja finally found some joy in the 62nd minute when winger Bihanga Yapa scored their second try. Centre Sadeesha Weerawansa’s conversion brought the score to 39-12.
