Zahira College delivered a lesson to Kingswood College with a commanding 38-0 victory in their Dialog Schools Rugby League match played at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy yesterday. The game was a display of Zahira’s attacking excellence and defensive solidity as they led 12-0 at halftime and extended their dominance in the second half.

From the start, Zahira made their intentions clear. The opening try came in the sixth minute from vice-captain Ijas Inaam. After a swift overload from Luqman Nadeem, Inaam sprinted down the right flank and touched down near the corner flag. Although Thahir Churchie missed the conversion, Zahira was up 5-0.

Their second try came in the 23rd minute, with Nadeem showcasing his speed and agility. Nadeem dodged multiple tackles in a brilliant solo effort, running from the far corner to score. Abdullah Hassan successfully converted the try, pushing Zahira’s lead to 12-0 by halftime.

The second half saw Zahira continue their relentless attack. Winger Abdullah Hassan scored the third try in the 46th minute. A series of precise passes from the left flank set up Hassan for a mid-right touchdown. Despite missing the conversion, Zahira was firmly in control with a 17-0 lead.

In the 62nd minute, Zahira’s captain Sabri Sahibo added the bonus-point try near the right post. With the successful conversion, they extended the lead to 24-0. As the game approached its final moments, Zahira’s attack showed no signs of slowing down. Naweed scored the team’s fifth try just before the end of the match. With a flawless conversion, Zahira led 31-0.

The final flourish came from Inaam, who scored his second try and Zahira’s sixth. He touched down under the posts, and Hassan’s successful conversion sealed the match at 38-0.
