LTL Holdings Ltd (LTL) a diversified conglomerate, sponsored supplying and installing a 150kWp (DC) Solar PV System for Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Temple in Anuradhapura recently.

This was done at the request of Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero, COO of LTL and Member of Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of LTL Sudath Annasiwatte was quoted in a media release by LTL as saying,

“Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is the most sacred and revered site in Sri Lanka, and this is the oldest recorded living tree in the world which is more than 2300 years of existence and is a proud heritage to all Sri Lankans,” the statement said.

The opening for this solar system of 150 kWp, donated by LTL Holdings Ltd worth Rs. 29.5 million was held on July 13, in the presence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Temple, Anuradhapura. “Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi over its existence of the historic life span has contributed to absorbing nearly 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide on its journey towards becoming carbon neutral,” Mr. Annasiwatte noted.

Noting that solar energy offers a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for meeting energy needs, he said.

This initiation supports neutralising the carbon emissions related to the energy consumption of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable development. LTL has contributed illuminating various temples all over the country in the past as well and this contribution also can be seen as a continuation of the LTL’s commitments to the country.
