Kandy’s Kolam Studios brings Broadway and more to Lionel Wendt

Launched in March 2023, the theatre collective Kolam Studios’ aim was to offer up their services to schools and help with drama. They began conducting a series of workshops and sessions teaching Kandy students the various aspects of drama to hone their theatrical talents. Their first ever public performance on August 18, 2023, was followed by a second performance in Colombo at the Lionel Wendt theatre on September 8.
Their latest show, “Razzmatazz!” is an ensemble of some of the most popular Broadway hits throughout the ages. With songs from well loved musicals, such as The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Hamilton, and The Greatest Showman, to classic Disney songs, the show has something special for everyone.
Venturing through dances from The Greatest Showman, songs from The Phantom of the Opera, boisterous numbers from Hairspray, a comedic streak from Barbie, West Side Story, and magical escapes through Disney, the musical will weave together a night of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
“Razzmatazz!” by Kolam Studios is on August 14 from 7.30 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt theatre.
