A run-a-ball 70 inclusive of five boundaries and four sixes by skipper Joshua Sebastian and a composed 76 off 105 balls with 12 boundaries by Hiruka Silva paved the way for St. Peter’s College to record a big 107-run win over Trinity College in the quarter-final encounter of the Under-17 Division I Inter-School Limited Over Tournament played at the Dharmapala MV ground in Pannipitiya.

The pair came to the rescue of St. Peter’s when they were struggling on 87 for 5 in the 27th over by putting on a valuable 98-run stand for the sixth wicket to help them end with a score of 228 runs. Trinity, in their run chase, too underwent an early setback losing their top five wickets for 93 and never recovered. They were bowled for a paltry score of 121 runs which ensured the semi-final berth for St. Peter’s.

A half ton by skipper Okitha Fernando and a four-wicket haul by Kaveesha Samaratunga helped St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota to record a convincing 91-run win over S. Thomas’ College in another quarter-final match played at the Maris Stella ground in Thimbirigaskatuwa.

Skipper Okitha’s knock saw the Antonians, taking first lease of the wicket, make a modest score of 205 for 8 and in their run chase the Thomians succumbed to Kaveesha and Imeth Rajapakse, who bagged three scalps to restrict their opponents at 114 runs. As the Antonians advanced to the semi-final.
