John Keells CG Auto opens BYD showroom and service centre
View(s):John Keells CG Auto, the authorised distributor for BYD passenger vehicles in Sri Lanka, is now getting into a brand new sector, Auto dealership.
Despite being a new entrant to the distribution business, it presented a compelling opportunity, JKH Chairperson Krishan Balendra said at the launching ceremony on Wednesday. He noted that it is only a matter of time before consumers shift from traditional vehicles to the more, greener ones.
“One of the unique selling propositions of this product is the savings from the fuel cost. Going forward, it will be an exciting opportunity for Sri Lanka and the company,” he said, adding that the company is awaiting vehicle import restrictions to be lifted to import the shipments. This coincided with the launch of the Plug-in Hybrid BYD SEALION 6 DM – I in Sri Lanka and three electric vehicles that are expected to be introduced shortly.
Commenting on the dawn of a new era in sustainable transportation, Mr/ Balendra said: “Our partnership with BYD in November 2023 marked a significant milestone for the John Keells Group and Sri Lanka`s automotive landscape.
General Manager Auto Sales Division (Asia-Pacific), Liu Xueliang said they were committed to supporting Sri Lanka with the adoption of a sustainable transport ecosystem.
