Pakistan and India High Commissions in Sri Lanka mark Independence Day celebrations
View(s):The High Commission of Pakistan and the Pakistani community in Sri Lanka celebrated the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan recently.
High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Faheem-Ul-Aziz HI (M) hoisted the national flag in a ceremony at the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo.
Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out.
The event was attended by a large number of participants including Pakistani diaspora, officials and families of the High Commission, local dignitaries, journalists and friends of Pakistan.
Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha hoisted the flag at India House as hundreds of members of Indian diaspora joined the event.
A highlight was the Bihu dance performance by the visiting Indian Council For Cultural Relations troupe from Assam, India.
The Sri Lanka Navy Band played ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’ and ‘Aye Mere Watan
