EDEX Mid Year Expo is 2024 back next month with more exciting scholarships and opportunities. Providing comprehensive insights into a diverse range of opportunities in higher education, training, gainful employment and entrepreneurship for the Sri Lankan youth, the EDEX Expo, the country’s largest, longest running and premier Education Expo will host its annual Mid Year Expo from 6th to 8th September at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.
The EDEX Expo has been brightening the futures of Sri Lankan youth for the past 20 years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic when the Expo became the first-ever hybrid Expo in Sri Lanka.
Bringing together top-tier local and international universities and higher education institutions, the Expo offers a centralised location for students to explore a wide range of higher education choices, facilitating a quick and convenient method for students to identify the most suitable qualifications for their desired career path. Additionally, many institutions featured at the expo will provide opportunities for partial or full scholarships, including exclusive offers available only at the EDEX Mid-Year Expo.
Over 150 stalls comprising around 75 local and international universities and over 25 leading corporates will participate in this year’s job fair. This includes a dynamic pavilion featuring Sri Lanka’s leading local universities such as Moratuwa, Colombo and Open universities, offering many unique opportunities for students who wish to excel in their higher studies at local universities. The event will also feature an event day seminar series with different seminar themes each day, catering to the specific needs of Sri Lankan students and job seekers. The EDEX Mid Year expo will feature a pre-event seminar series starting from August 23 via Zoom.
An exciting feature of this year’s Expo are the spot interviews and job opportunities being offered by leading banking / FMCG and IT/BPO companies who will take part in the job fair. Another special addition to this year’s Expo is a 20th-anniversary edutainment segment featuring leading artists, musicians and sports personalities who will feature in panel discussions and meet students.
Project Chairman of EDEX Mid-year Expo 2024, Mr. Chathushika Nissanka explained the Expo’s role in revolutionising educational opportunities in Sri Lanka. “As I have said before, I firmly believe that the EDEX Expo is more than just an education fair; it is a catalyst for change. There are an increasing number of opportunities every year and our exhibition reflects the changes in the global higher education sector”
The EDEX Job Fair and Careers Portal are integral parts of the EDEX Mid Year Expo, with EDEX Careers providing access to psychometric testing, administered by professional career guidance counsellors, catering to individuals of all ages, particularly students.
The EDEX Mid Year Expo will kick off at 9:30 am and conclude at 6:00 pm on all days at the BMICH. Students can Pre-register for the pre-event seminar series via the EDEX Fb page. His Excellency Eric Walsh, the High Commissioner of Canada for Sri Lanka and the Maldives will open the Expo at the inauguration ceremony.
