Students of Welimada Boralanda Dharmapala School had collected money by singing songs at Keppetipola economic centre in order to purchase musical instruments for the school.

The students took this initiative to purchase musical instruments by not burdening the Government to bear the expense of instruments.

Boralanda Dharmapala School has around 400 students from Primary to Advanced Level classes. As the school lacks musical instruments for music and dancing classes, the students collected money to purchase western musical instruments required for the school band.

Students faced great inconvenience due to the school’s lack of instruments, which the school had tried to obtain but failed.

Therefore the students, with the support of the principal and teachers, requested assistance from people by showcasing their talent.

The students told the Sunday Times that they needed to collect Rs 475,000 to purchase instruments.
