Plethora of dance forms that lit up Epic Black
View(s):Naomi Rajaratnam’s dance company ‘With My Feet’ is well known in Sri Lanka and there is always a buzz surrounding a new show. ‘Epic Black, the company’s recent production was a poignant and powerful production dedicated as it was to Naomi’s husband – the late Trevor Rajaratnam.
The theme that explored the journey from darkness to light featured a plethora of dance forms, providing the audience with enough variety and complexity in terms of choreography and music.
Latin American and Fusion, Ballroom and more was on the stage and the performances by Gunnar Gunnarrson, Manuja Hughes, Roman Sukhomlyn and Jackie Stevenson –all acclaimed in the international ballroom scene were added attractions.
High octane performances and flowing sequences made ‘Epic Black’ more than meaningful, not just for Naomi and her dedicated ensemble but the appreciative audiences on the three nights of the show at the Bishop’s College auditorium.
