Thalduwa Buddhist School retain rugby 7s title

Thalduwa Buddhist School clinched the Sabaragamuwa Province Rugby 7s Championship for the second consecutive year earlier this week, beating Kegalu Vidyalaya by 14-12 in the final played in Kegalle.

As defending champions, Thalduwa Buddhist School advanced to the semi-finals, defeating Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Maha Vidyalaya by a comprehensive margin of 26-5, to face Kegalu Vidyalaya in the final. The team triumphed with a narrow 14-12 victory in the final defeating Kegalu Vidyalaya, which took place at the School Stadium in Kegalle.

Led by captain Satheesha Madushantha and vice-captain Nabeel Dilshan, and coached by Shanuka Priyadarshana with assistant coach Dinesh Suranga, Thalduwa Buddhist School’s 15s team also won all their matches throughout the Dialog Schools Division II Group ‘A’ League Tournament. Maleendra Jayawardhana serves as the Master in-Charge of the team.
