New CMA Professional Programme – Equipping Future Accountants – digitally-enabled, value-driven, and solution-savvy

These core pillars guide the comprehensive process of preparing finance and cost & management accounting professionals to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing financial landscape. As the financial world continues to transform, CMA’s commitment to nurturing professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this new era is unwavering. The “Professional Programme 2023-2027” stands as a testament to this commitment, ensuring that finance and accounting professionals are not just ready for the future but are also capable of shaping it.
Prof. Ho Yew Kee, Professor of Accounting, Cluster Director, Singapore Institute of Technology, Former Professor in Accounting at National University of Singapore (NUS) and Chairman of CMA Academic Advisory Board, shared his insights on the new professional programme
The new CMA professional programme is comprised of four Levels namely Certificate Level, Operational Level, Managerial Level, and Strategic Level and five streams covering management and financial accounting, strategic management, risk management, project management, legal compliance, taxation, audit, and assurance while adhering to the ethical and corporate governance principles together with the skills stream in communication and digital technology
Given the increasing importance of digital technology, four modules have been added to the syllabus to provide hands-on experience in Data Analytics, Advanced Excel, Power BI, and Sage 50. Additionally, the Advanced Professional Programme, known as “Speech Craft,” is included at Level 3 to enhance communication and reporting skills. The SL4.5 Integrative Case Study is a capstone of the Study Programme which enhances the competencies of candidates in a higher order and a holistic sense. Upon completion of each level, students will receive the following certifications: Level 1 – Certificate in Accounting & Business Studies, Level 2 – Diploma in Accounting & Business Studies, Level 3 – Advanced Diploma in Accounting & Business Studies, and Level 4 – Passed Finalist.
Launching the new syllabus of CMA Professional Program 2023-2027.
The first three levels of examinations are conducted computer-based, in collaboration with Pearson VUE, locally in CMA Computer Center and overseas, utilising Pearson VUE centers. Furthermore, a physical examination is conducted for the Strategic Level, providing an opportunity for overseas students to take the exams online.
Registered Education Providers offer classes through various modes such as traditional classrooms, online e-learning, video lectures, and hybrid approaches. CMA provides comprehensive study texts and revision programmes across all levels. Further wide-ranging learning supports are offered through the CMA Learning Support System (CMA LMS), which includes access to practice exams, mock exams, and a diverse range of learning resources aimed at
ensuring success in their examinations.
