Footwork Dancesport Championships to hit the stage
View(s):The Footwork Dancesport Championships 2024 organised by the Footwork International Dance Organization will take place on September 8 at Golden Rose, Boralesgamuwa from 10 a.m. to midnight.
The competition will comprise three segments namely, ballroom, Latin American and street latin and will feature different dance types such as the waltz, tango, quickstep, cha cha, jive, samba, rumba, salsa, bachata, and kizomba.
180 contestants from 11 dance schools are preparing to battle for 50 titles at the championships that will also see dance performances by leading dance schools.
The dancers will also get the opportunity to learn from a world-class instructor and show dancer Luka Fanni prior to the competition.
The night will round off with an entertaining dinner dance with sumptuous food and live music.
Says Footwork’s Dharshan Wijesooriya who has officiated in more than 150 international dance competitions in 19 different nations as a licensed adjudicator of the World Dance Council, “This much-anticipated event will seek to raise the bar for dancesport in Sri Lanka. This competition has the potential to be a game-changer, taking it to a whole new level and establishing standards for years to come.”
