Royal Australian Chemical Institute CEO Discusses Future Collaborations with Officials from the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon

The Australian National Chemistry Quiz (ANCQ) is held every year by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) in various countries, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The Australian organization supplies the question papers, multiple-choice answer sheets, and other materials in English.

The Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) has a strong tradition of scientific excellence and is dedicated to advancing the chemical sciences for the betterment of Australia and beyond. It brings together passionate individuals from academia, industry, government, and school science educators who share a common goal: to promote the understanding and application of chemistry for the benefit of society. The RACI acts as a central point for sharing ideas and fostering scientific discovery.

On Friday, 23rd August 2024, Mr. Shenal Basnayake, the CEO of RACI, visited our institute while he was in Sri Lanka. He mentioned his plans for Sri Lanka and mapped out a pathway for cooperation between the RACI and IChemC. The event created a unique opportunity for the institute and the country to drive future IChemC activities.

The event was graced by Prof. Janitha Liyanage – President of the IChemC, Mr. N I N S Nadarasa – ANCQ Overall Coordinator & Senior Administrative Executive, Mr. Geethanjith Karunarathna – Registrar, Dr. Dinusha Udukala – Head/Department of Chemistry, Prof. T Gobika – Senior Lecturer, Dr. A A P Keerthi – Head/Department of Allied Sciences, Mr. E G Somapala – Director DLT, Mr. N H S Hettigedara – Past President (22/23) of IChemC, Mr. M R M Haniffa – Past President (16/17) of IChemC and Visiting Lecturer, Ms. Kasuni Piyawardena – Public Relationship Officer, and Ms. Hiruni Seneviratne – Teaching Assistant.

It was an exceptional success, uniting the institute and fostering collaboration, paving the way for technological advancement and empowerment of the future.
