Trained, untrained and graduate teacher numbers revealed in census
View(s):The summary report of the 2023 annual school census of Sri Lanka revealed that a total of 4,458 untrained teachers are serving in government schools.
According to the statistics 347 untrained teachers are in national schools while the remaining 4,111 teachers are working attached to provincial schools.
The summary report explained that out of the total teaching staff of the government schools of 237,787, around 101,261 are graduate trained teachers. There are also another 37,795 graduate teachers who do not have training.
Likewise there are also 93,929 teachers who are trained, yet are not graduate teachers. There are also 344 teachers who have other qualifications. (KW)
