Namal’s security nab two youth with toy pistol on them

Two youth who allegedly attempted to enter the venue of a campaign meeting of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa in Welimada town on Friday, while carrying a toy pistol were arrested by Ambagasdowa Police and handed over to the Welimada Police.
The two youths, a 20-year-old schoolstudent and 23-year-old university student, both residents of Uva Paranagama, were arrested after officers providing security to the venue searched them found a toy pistol in their possession.
Welimada Police said the suspects had told police that they had attempted to enter the venue to inform their parents, who were at the meeting, that they were going home. The suspects were due to be produced before the Welimada Magistrate’s Court last evening. Welimada Police are investigating.
