Oasis reunion tour creates a buzz in group’s back catalog
The reunion of Oasis for a 2025 tour sparked off a huge interest in the back catalogue of the Manchester band. Two of the band’s perennial hits returned to the UK Top 10 singles chart this week. Leading the way is the song ‘Live Forever’ from the album ‘Definitely Maybe’ which this time around climbed from 19 to land at No. 8. Back in 1995 it peaked at No.10. ‘Live Forever’ was written by Noel Gallagher while he was doing light work following a building site accident. The song is inspired by the Rolling Stones track ‘Shine A Light’. The other song from the band that made it to the top 10 this week is ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ which ascended from 16 to No. 9. Back in 1996, the song was the second chart- topping hit for Oasis. It is the first song where Noel Gallagher leads the vocals. ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ is taken from the ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ album. This week the Britpop band also secured the No. 1 spot on the UK albums chart with ‘Definitely Maybe’ ousting Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short N Sweet’. In another development Oasis added two more dates to their 17 date tour for 2025 to appease frustrated fans. Due to a huge demand for tickets, 27th and 28th September 2025 are now additional shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. On 7th September fans received invitations via email to enter the private ballot for the additional concert tickets. Meanwhile reports suggest the Gallagher brothers are keen to have Zak Starkey (the son of former Beatle – Sir Ringo Starr) to be the drummer of the tour band. Zak served as tour drummer between 2004 and 2008.

Linkin Park face backlash over new lead singer
The rock band Linkin Park has run into a storm after it was disclosed Emily Armstrong formerly of Dead Sara was the replacement for the late Chester Bennington. Just as the band’s comeback single ‘The Emptiness Machine’ is getting a lot of positive attention, critical sentiments have been expressed about Armstrong’s recruitment, as she has previously voiced support for a convicted rapist and had also been a member of the controversial Church of Scientology. Chester Bennington’s son Jamie has been one of the critics. As the band was to embark on a tour last Wednesday, guitarist Brad Delson quit the band. Linkin Park will release their new album ‘From Zero’ on  November 15.
