Entries called for inaugural Novices Age Group Tourney
Entries are now open for the first-ever Novices Age Group Badminton Championship to be held in Sri Lanka. Under the organisation of the Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) and the coordination of the Regional Development Committee, the championship is scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 2 at the New Saniro Airport Sports Complex in Naiwala, Dewalapola. Entries will close on September 20.
The championship will see events conducted under the age categories U-11, 13, 15, 17, and 19 for boys and girls. The opening ceremony will be held on September 28, and the preliminary matches will take place from the opening day until September 30. The semi-final and pre-final matches will be held on October 1, while the final and closing ceremony will take place on October 2.
Winners, runners-up, and semi-finalists will receive valuable trophies, medals, and certificates. Hosting the inaugural edition of the championship, the SLB Regional Development Committee aims to open the doors to the national level for school-level novice athletes. The Novices Age Group Badminton Championship is sponsored by Sunquick, McFoil, Mobil, Li-Ning, Multilac, United Sports, and Prime Group.
