As the only International School qualified to play in Division I of All-Island Schools’ Football, Gateway College continues to solidify its reputation as a powerhouse in Sri Lankan youth football. The school takes pride in announcing that three of their talented players have been selected for the Under-17 national squad, preparing for the upcoming U-17 SAFF Championship in Bhutan.

Humaidh Irshad, Nadal Senapala, and Ahmed Hijazy have earned their places on the national stage, showcasing the exceptional skill and dedication fostered at Gateway. Their selection brings the total number of Gateway players representing Sri Lanka’s national teams to five.

In addition to the U-17 stars, Gateway is also well-represented in the Under-20 national squad with Umar Shakil and Anuk Dassanayake, both of whom are making significant strides in their football careers.

With these five players currently training with and representing their country, Gateway stands out as a leading contributor to the national youth football squads across all schools in Sri Lanka. This remarkable achievement highlights the school’s commitment to nurturing top talent and underscores the strength of their football programme.
