Tennielle of Philippines clinches two titles
Tennielle Madis from the Philippines clinched two titles at the second ITF World Junior J60 Tennis Tournament, which concluded yesterday at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.
In the Girls’ Singles final, Tennielle secured a comfortable victory, winning by 2-0 against her compatriot Stefi Marithe Aludo. Later, in the Girls’ Doubles, Tennielle, paired up with her singles opponent Stefi, to triumph against the pair of Dinara de Silva from Sri Lanka and Pehal Khardakar from India, by 2-0.
In the Boys’ Singles, Tavish Pahwa of India emerged as the champion by defeating Roman Kulpin of Germany in straight sets. In the Boys’ Doubles event, the duo of Viraj Gohil from India and Miguel Iglupas from the Philippines defeated Venkat Rishi Batlanki from the USA and Juliusz Stanczyk from Poland, who fell short in a closely contested match. This loss marks the second consecutive time the pair from the USA and Poland were runners-up, having also finished second in the previous tournament held last week.
