Nilan awarded for contribution to traditional dance and modern ballet

The Sunday Times photographer and award winning Dancer/Choreographer Nilan Maligape was felicitated at the ‘Vishwabhinandhana Artistes Felicitation Programme’ organised by the Ministry of Cultural and Arts of the Western Province Council recently.
Maligaspe was felicitated for his yeoman service as a choreographer, a renowned ballet teacher of and a guru of Sri Lankan traditional dance and art formats.
The picture shows the award was handed over by well-known wordsmith and researcher on Sri Lanka songs Dhammika Bandara at the felicitation held at the Western Province Aesthetic Institute in Colombo.
