Sri Lanka’s presidential election garnered more than $48,000 in wagers on the global prediction platform Polymarket.

The website allows people around the world to use cryptocurrency to bet on the outcome of events from elections to wars to sports events.

Polymarket’s Sri Lankan election market shifted quite frequently throughout election day but overall strongly favoured the odds of an Anura Kumara Dissanayake victory. The market opened more than a week ago and has been operational ever since. It will close once results are announced by the Election Commission.
