The 2024 edition of the Colombo International Book Fair commenced on Friday (27) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). The annual fair, open from 9 am to 9 pm, will continue till October 6.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, the fair is a significant cultural event that attracts book lovers, authors, publishers, and literary enthusiasts from across the island to the capital Colombo.

It offers an opportunity to explore a diverse range of books, from fiction and non-fiction to academic texts and children’s literature. This year’s fair celebrates a quarter-century of promoting reading and literacy in the country, the organisers said.

Wijeya Newspapers is the print partner for this celebration of the written word and a testament to Sri Lanka’s rich literary heritage.
