Lady Gaga releases a companion album to the Joker film
Lady Gaga has released a companion album to her forthcoming film Joker: Folie a Duex. The album ‘Harlequin’ was released on 27th September after the singer gave short notice of four days. The album title is named after the character Gaga will play in the film that is set to open on 4th October. Gaga promoted the film during the Venice film festival recently. ‘Harlequin’ will contain 13 tracks. Some of the songs will be new while others will be iconic cover versions. Meanwhile the 38 year singer will release her next album ‘LG7’ as announced earlier in February 2025.
Chappell Roan on the UK top 10 singles chart
Chappell Roan is one of the rising big musicians making waves on both sides of the Atlantic. The 26 year old Missouri born US artist has two songs this week on the UK top 10 singles chart. Challenging fellow compatriot Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Taste’ for the No.1 spot with ‘Good Luck Babe’ close behind at No.2, following a live performance at the VMA awards. Also this week her song ‘Hot To Go’ has made it to the top 10 by rising from 11 to No. 9. The song which has climbed up the chart laboriously for 18 weeks, started almost at the bottom of the chart at 95. Originally released in August 2023, ‘’Hot To Go’ has ascended up the chart continuously except on two occasions, when it faltered. ‘Hot To Go’ is produced by Roan’s long time writing collaborator Dan Nigro. The synthpop song is taken from her album ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess’. Meanwhile it has been disclosed that Chappell Roan whose actual name is Kayleigh Armstutz has been diagnosed with deep depression recently during a therapy session.
New Kids On The Block to undertake a residency
New Kids On The Block the 80’s big boy group is to undertake a Los Vegas residency next year. It will be held in two stages – the first between June and July and the second between 1st and 15th November at the Park MGM. It will be NKOTB’s first residency. The group released their first album in 11 years recently titled ‘Still Kids’. Between 1986 and 1991 the group had several big hit songs across the world including ‘Hangin’ Tough’, ‘You Got It (The Right Stuff)’, ‘I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)’, ‘Cover Girl’ and ’Step By Step’. New Kids On The Block have sold over 80 million albums globally.
Kesha to start her own label
The once popular singer Kesha, has announced the formation of her own label called Kesha Records in partnership with the global distribution arm of Crush Music/ADA, which is part of Warner Music. Earlier the 37 year old had been signed up with Kemosabe/RCA. Kesha will also have full control of her music. A new album by the artist will be out in 2025. Kesha’s career took off in 2002 with global hit songs such as ‘Tik Tok’, ’Blah Blah Blah’, ’We R Who We Are’, ‘Die Young’ and as a featured artist on FloRida’s ‘Right Round’ and Pitbull’s ‘Timber’. Kesha’s career took a tumble when she and her producer and label boss Dr. Luke got involved in an acrimonious dispute. Legal action and counter action from both parties began in 2014. In June 2023 both sides issued a joint statement after reaching a settlement. Also last year, Kesha released her last album ’Gag Order’ under the old label Kemosabe.
