Unbeaten Nawaloka Hospitals favourites against LOLC in MCA ‘C’ final

Nawaloka Hospitals, led by the seasoned Samith Rubery, is set to take on LOLC Holdings in a thrilling battle for the coveted NDB Trophy in the final of the 4th National Development Bank (NDB) MCA ‘C’ Division 50 Over League Tournament 2024 at the Bloomfield ground today.

Nawaloka Hospitals dominated the League Round, finishing at the top of the leaderboard with three wins and a no-result. Their victories, achieved through DLS method, came against formidable teams — David Pieris Group ‘A’ by 4 wickets, MAS Unichela by 28 runs, and Commercial Bank ‘A’ by 27 runs.

The clash with LOLC Holdings was halted due to poor weather conditions. In the Knockout semi-final, Nawaloka Hospitals continued their winning streak, beating David Pieris Group ‘A’ by 42 runs.

Star performers for Nawaloka include Thaveesha Kahaduwaarachchi, who amassed 376 runs in five innings with five half centuries, Thiwanka Kekulawala, who contributed 175 runs in five innings, took 12 wickets, and notched two half centuries, alongside Lakshan Ruwantha (6 wickets) and Samila Nadeesh (5 wickets).

LOLC Holdings secured second place in the League Round with two wins and two no results, defeating Commercial Bank by a massive 117 runs and MAS Unichela by 12 runs. Weather disruptions saw their matches against Nawaloka and David Pieris Group washed out. In the semi-final, LOLC stormed into the finals with an 82-run victory over MAS Unichela, courtesy of the DLS method.

LOLC’s key contributors include Lahiru Attanayake, who smashed a half century in three innings, alongside standout bowlers Sayuru Udukumbura, Vinod Madushan, and Dhanushka Udara, all claiming six wickets each.
